Sean Phelan, founder, Multimap.com
Sean Phelan started Multimap.com as a bootstrap start-up in his spare bedroom in 1995 and built it into one of the 10 most popular British Web services, with revenues of £12 million and profits of £1 million. In December 2007 the company was acquired by Microsoft for £30 million, cementing its position in the ranks of Britain’s biggest internet success stories. Prior to founding Multimap, he was a principal consultant in KPMG’s Telecommunications and Media Convergence practice, where he advised major clients on products, services, regulation and marketing strategies. Prior to this, he was principal analyst at Yankee Group Europe, consulting on data communications markets and trends. Phelan holds an MBA from Institute Theseus, based in Sophia Antipolis, France, and an engineering degree from the University of Sussex.
