Dr Andrew Calcutt, School of Social Sciences, Media and Cultural Studies, University of East London
Dr Andrew Calcutt is Programme Leader of the MA Magazines and MA Journalism and Society programmes in the School of Social Sciences, Media and Cultural Studies at the University of East London. A journalist turned academic, Andrew has written and researched widely on cybercultures, creative industries, youth and other aspects of contemporary popular culture. His books include White Noise: A-Z of the Contradictions of Cyberculture (Palgrave Macmillan, 1998) [Amazon.co.uk]. He is currently investigating the changing relations between media, politics and the Public, with special emphasis on ‘social media’ and user-generated content. He is also editor of Rising East, the online inquiry into the reconstruction of East London.
